For he’s a jolly good fellow!
It was only a month ago that I received the honour of being awarded the Chartered Institute of Marketing’s Member of the Year 2009 for the North West of England.
To get the recognition of your peers for the work you do delivering business strategy, marketing strategy and marketing communications consultancy to Manchester, Cheshire and North West based owner managed businesses was terrific.
Working in my spare time as the CIM’s Greater Manchester Ambassador to SME’s is also something that contributed to this award, but to be honest, being able to use that role to spread the word about best practice strategic and tactical marketing is not a hardship.
I’d only just got over this when I was advised that the Chartered Institute had awarded me a Fellowship, which in tandem with my Chartered Marketer status is about as good as it gets! Looking back to 2001 when Corve Consultancy was emerging from the shadows of a twenty five year career in corporate finance, I never thought I’d be Chartered, let alone receive these other awards and recognitions.
It’s humbling – I now truly consider myself a marketer by profession, qualification and vocation – my corporate finance past is at last laid to rest!
